Guava and Cheese Pastries

Flaky puff pastry filled with sweet guava paste and creamy cheese, then baked until crisp and golden.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Heat the oven to 200°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Step 2

    Beat the egg with the water in a small bowl to make an egg wash.

    Ingredients used: 1.0 piece Egg, 15.0 ml Water

  3. Step 3

    Unfold the puff pastry on a cutting board. Cut each sheet into 8 equal rectangles to make 8 bases and 8 tops.

  4. Step 4

    Cut the guava paste and cream cheese into 8 equal portions each. Place one portion of each in the center of every pastry base, leaving a clear border.

    Ingredients used: 170.0 gr Cream Cheese, 225.0 gr Guava Paste

  5. Step 5

    Lay the remaining pastry rectangles over the fillings. Press out excess air, then crimp the edges firmly with a fork and cut a small vent in each top.

  6. Step 6

    Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet. Brush their tops with egg wash and sprinkle with the granulated sugar.

  7. Step 7

    Bake at 200°C until deeply golden, puffed, and crisp, about 20 minutes.

    Let the pastries cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before serving.
