Caramelized Onion Dip

A creamy, savory dip made with deeply caramelized onions, sour cream, cream cheese, and chives.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Thinly slice the onions.

  2. Step 2

    Melt the butter with the olive oil in the sauté pan over medium heat.

  3. Step 3

    Add the sliced onions and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until softened.

  4. Step 4

    Reduce to low heat and cook until the onions are very soft and deep golden brown, stirring more frequently toward the end.

  5. Step 5

    Spread the caramelized onions on a large plate and let them cool to room temperature.

    Whisk the sour cream, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper until smooth.

    Fold the cooled onions and chopped chives into the creamy base.
