Baked Mackerel with Herbs

Whole mackerel seasoned with garlic, fresh herbs, lemon, and olive oil, then baked until tender and flaky.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 200°C and set out a baking dish large enough to hold the fish in one layer.

  2. Step 2

    Pat the mackerel dry and cut two or three shallow diagonal slashes into each side. Arrange the fish in the baking dish.

  3. Step 3

    Combine the olive oil, parsley, dill, oregano, garlic, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl.

    Ingredients used: 2.0 gr Black Pepper, 10.0 gr Dill, 2.0 gr Dried Oregano, 12.0 gr Garlic, 45.0 ml Olive Oil, 15.0 gr Parsley, 6.0 gr Salt

  4. Step 4

    Rub the herb mixture over the fish, into the slashes, and inside the cavities. Tuck the lemon slices into the cavities and place any extras over the fish.

  5. Step 5

    Bake at 200°C until the flesh is opaque, flakes easily near the backbone, and reaches 63°C at the thickest part.

    Timer: 20 min (fixed)

  6. Step 6

    Rest the baked mackerel briefly, then serve while warm.

    Timer: 3 min (fixed)
