Al dente spaghetti tossed with a simple tomato sauce flavored with onion, garlic, oregano, and fresh basil.

Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Finely chop the onion. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, add the onion, and cook until soft and translucent.

  2. Step 2

    Mince the garlic, add it to the onion, and cook over medium heat until fragrant.

  3. Step 3

    Crush the tomatoes and add them with their juices, the oregano, 1 tsp (6 gr) of the salt, and the black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low heat and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally.

  4. Step 4

    While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add the remaining 2 tsp (12 gr) salt and the spaghetti, then cook until al dente according to the package timing.

    Drain the spaghetti thoroughly in a colander.
