Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Roasted bell pepper halves filled with thinly sliced beef, onions, mushrooms, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce, then topped with melted provolone cheese.
Instructions
-
Step 1
Heat the oven to 200°C. Cut and clean the bell peppers, then arrange them cut-side up in the baking dish.
-
Step 2
Drizzle the peppers with 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil and season with ⅜ tsp (2 gr) salt. Bake until beginning to soften but still holding their shape.
-
Step 3
Meanwhile, heat the remaining 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil in the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned with no raw surfaces visible.
-
Step 4
Transfer the browned beef to a clean plate. Add the onion and mushrooms to the skillet and cook over medium heat until softened and their released moisture has mostly evaporated.
-
Step 5
Add the garlic and cook over medium heat until fragrant.
-
Step 6
Return the beef to the skillet. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, remaining ⅝ tsp (4 gr) salt, and black pepper, then cook over medium heat until the filling is hot and well combined.
-
Step 7
Divide the cheesesteak filling evenly among the roasted pepper halves.
-
Step 8
Top each stuffed pepper half with a slice of provolone. Bake at 200°C until the cheese is melted and the peppers are tender.
-
Step 9
Rest the stuffed peppers for 5 minutes before serving.
