Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Cabbage leaves stuffed with a savory mixture of grains and herbs, baked to tender perfection. A comforting meal option.
Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 190°C for 10 minutes.

Bring water to a full boil in the large pot over high heat, about 10 minutes.

Blanch the four raw green cabbage leaves in the boiling water for 3 minutes, turning them with the tongs, until pliable. Transfer them to the colander to drain and cool.

Heat the skillet over medium heat, add olive oil, yellow onion, and garlic, and sauté for 6 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent. Transfer the cooked mixture to the mixing bowl.

Add the cooked, cooled, drained rice and fresh chopped parsley to the mixing bowl with half of the salt and half of the black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.

In one 20 x 20 cm baking dish, combine the canned undrained crushed tomato, water, the remaining half of the salt, and the remaining half of the black pepper.

Place each blanched green cabbage leaf on the cutting board, fill with one-quarter of the rice mixture, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Arrange all four rolls seam-side down in a single layer in the baking dish.

Bake the baking dish in the oven at 190°C for 45 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling and the cabbage leaves are fully tender. Serve hot.
