Ratatouille with Crusty Bread
A hearty vegetable stew featuring zucchini, eggplant, and bell peppers. Best served with crusty bread for a satisfying meal.

Preheat the oven to 220°C.

Using the chef's knife and cutting board, chop the onion and bell pepper, mince the garlic, and cut the eggplant and zucchini into bite-size pieces. Open the canned diced tomato with the can opener.

Heat the olive oil in the Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic and stir with the wooden spoon for 8 minutes, until softened and fragrant.

Add the eggplant, zucchini, and tomato to the Dutch oven, stirring with the wooden spoon to combine. Cover and simmer over low heat for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender and the stew is thickened.

Slice the baguette with the chef's knife, arrange the slices on the baking sheet, and toast in the 220°C oven for 8 minutes until crisp and golden.

Stir the salt and black pepper into the finished ratatouille, taste, and confirm the vegetables are tender. Serve the ratatouille from the Dutch oven with the toasted baguette alongside.
