Air-Fried Potato-Stuffed Meatballs
Four large Turkish-inspired potato shells filled with a lean, warmly spiced beef and onion mixture, then air-fried until crisp and browned.
Instructions
-
Step 1
Place the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Cook until easily pierced through the center, then drain and cool until safe to handle.
-
Step 2
Peel the potatoes, place them in a mixing bowl, and mash until completely smooth.
-
Step 3
Mix the egg white and oat flour into the potato. Add the allocated paprika, salt, black pepper, and cumin, then work the mixture into a uniform soft dough.
-
Step 4
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the potato mixture until firmer and easier to shape.
-
Step 5
Cook the onion in an oil-free pan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it softens and its liquid has completely evaporated. If it starts to stick, add a very small amount of water and continue cooking.
-
Step 6
Add the ground beef and cook over medium heat, breaking it into fine crumbs. Stir in the tomato paste and the remaining paprika, salt, black pepper, and cumin; cook until the beef is no longer pink and the mixture is nearly dry.
-
Step 7
Spread the beef filling on a plate and let it cool until it no longer gives off steam.
-
Step 8
Divide the chilled potato mixture into 4 equal portions. Flatten each portion, make a hollow in the center, add one-quarter of the filling, and pinch the potato closed around it; shape into compact oval balls.
-
Step 9
Preheat the air fryer to 190°C.
-
Step 10
Arrange the stuffed potato balls in the air-fryer basket with space between them. Air-fry at 190°C for 16–18 minutes, until browned and the center reaches 71°C.
